Today we had a quiz over "The Most Dangerous Game". Due tomorrow are the During and After Reading activities in your Learning Log, including the map.

Friday 8/28

Students turned in their Harris Burdick writing packets today. We completed the before reading activities for The Most Dangerous Game in our Learning Logs. Students should finish reading The Most Dangerous Game in their textbooks for homework.

Thursday 8/27

In class, we reviewed The Interlopers, the short story that we read yesterday in class, and discussed the plot of the short story. After graphing the plot in our Learning Logs, we completed entries 19 and 20 in our Learning Logs. Students should have entries 1-20 completed at this time and should have submitted all Learning Logs for review. Students were also given the final directions for the Harris Burdick writing activity.

HW: Harris Burdick Rough Draft due tomorrow. The packet includes all of the prewriting activities that we have completed in class.

Wed. 8/26

Read, "The Interlopers", in class today. Students are to finish the entries in their learning logs. Homework- complete the During Reading Activity, define each of the words on your Plot Graph and give examples from the story.

Tues. 8/25

If you didn't distribute your Thank-You notes to your peer editors, you must have them Wed. You should have 14 completed Learning Log entries thus far. Begin Learning Log entries for "The Interlopers", (6 new entries). Homework is Daily Language Practice (20), and completing entries 15, 16, 17. Remember, tomorrow, Wed. is PICTURE DAY :-)

Today the students participated in peer editing. For homework, the students need to write thank you notes to each student who edited their paper. I attached the link for the thank you note directions. The notes are due tomorrow.

Tues. 8/18

Learning Logs MUST be assembled correctly. After today, students will not get credit for assignments that are not logged in correctly and on time. If you have not finished assembling your Learning Log, that is your homework. Additionally, all pre-reading activities for "The Necklace" must be completed and entered in your Learning Log.

Thursday, 8/14: As class, read excerpt from, "House on Mango Street", by Sandra Cisneros. 2nd Learning Log entry titled, "Names". Activity is to reflect on how your name influences your identity. Nickname vs. full name, popularity/frequency, choose your own name. Illustration and 10-15 sentences.
HOMEWORK: Complete Learning Log entries (3 total) for "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty".
